Abstract

Diagnosing someone with a specific mental disorder can at times be a difficult task for a psychologist.In an effort to minimize the chances of misdiagnoses and aid in the accurate diagnosis of a patient, one may look for chemical or physiological differences in the brain that are indicators of a specific disorder. For our research, we focus on schizophrenia because the abnormalities in the brain are significant and well documented in a variety of published studies. The inductive analysis of data from a study on schizophrenic and control patients will try to determine if there is a relationship between gender, age, and the pH level brain cells with schizophrenia in postmortem patients. We assess the relationship by fitting a logistic regression model to the data.
