Abstract

The goal of this project is to transmit music across a room using laser intensity modulation, as such this is a proof of concept study. The experimental setup consists of two modules: a “transmitter” and a “receiver.” The music signal is coupled, via an amplifier, to a laser pointer in the transmitter, and after transmission, it is detected and demodulated in the receiver. In order to have a completed optoelectronic product, we also designed and built two plastic cases for the transmitter and receiver utilizing CAD programming and 3D printer technology such that the two modules, when not in use, can be attached to each other for convenience.
