Abstract

Monitoring air quality is increasingly vital given the current need for environmental protection around polluted cities. A Particle Internet of Things (IoT) network can be used to create an environmental monitoring system to monitor air quality. An Internet of Things connects everyday objects and devices, allowing them to be remotely monitored and controlled. Using a solar panel to power the system, as well as the Particle platform, the Internet of Things monitors PM2.5, CO2, temperature, humidity and location using GPS. The design of the sensor network, the solar power source, and the components housing will be presented.
