Abstract

The Futures Forgotten Generation

My research has shown that if we don’t do something to fight climate change by the year 2035, we may hit a point of no return. Where global temperature will increase by 1.5°C or 2°C and will become virtually impossible to come back from (egu.eu). Not only that but my research also has shown that the effects of global warming are already being felt even here in the States with every year getting warmer and warmer. With the National Resource Defense Council concluding that by the end of the 21st century. The United States average temperature could rise as much as 11 degrees Fahrenheit which could cause more heat-related deaths and other global warming fatalities. With researchers at the World Health Organization concluded that around 150,000 deaths occur worldwide due to global warming could potentially double by year 2030.

Which, unfortunately thanks to the constant air pollution of gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) that the EPA and other scientist have concluded that it’s one of the types of gas that stops heat from escaping back to space which causes the Earth’s temperature to rise. But it also makes it harder to breath, with people all over the world already having to resort to wearing masks in the polluted air. The future seems glim, but the Paris Agreement within the United Nations to reduce greenhouse-gas-emissions gives a little hope to having a possible future for the next generation. However, when it comes to the U.S, thanks to the Trump administration and their lack of common sense/intelligence, the United States has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement. However, this generation has shown that if a government lacks or is unwilling to help save this planet, this home of ours. Then they will try to fix it themselves because it doesn’t matter if a country won’t help to save the world. The people who live in it will fight to protect, not just for themselves but for future generations yet to be born.

The poster that I’m trying to create will show a calm world that feels cold from the mistakes of the past and present that effected a generation far into the future. With the poster being something that you could see yourself hanging on the wall that could be impactful and tell you everything you need to know without having to read a page to understand it.
